The study of the Internal Medicine has generally been recognized as the basis of all medical sciences. Relevant knowledge from all the preclinical and other clinical disciplines has to assimilated into a holistic understanding of the aetiology, pathogenesis and treatment of clinical disorders.
In an era where there is continuous fragmentation of internal medicine into subspecialities, our aim is to equip the student with adequate knowledge and clinical skills, so that they can later confront disease processes with a wider focus.

The Jubilee Mission Hospital was started in 1952 with initially a medicine OP and later with IP patients. As the hospital expanded in strength the Medical Department flourished under the stewardship of Dr. Varghese Paul to become the largest medical unit in the district under the private sector.
When the Hospital was converted into the Jubilee Mission Medical College in 2003, the Medicine Department was the trusted name catering to large segment of patients from this and neighbouring districts.
The Medical College Medical Department was initially headed by Dr. M V Muralidharan MD DM, Retired Professor medicine from MCH, Thrissur, who guided the Department in the early years, and it is now headed by Dr. K B Mohan, MD, Retired Professor of Medicine.
The Department of Medicine presently comprises of 4 Units with 16 faculty members supported by Senior and Junior Residents along with the CRR interns.
The Department has been recognized for post graduate M D training with an intake of 2 PGs per year; and the success of the training is evidenced by a 100% pass rate in the M D examination since inception.
The Department of Medicine has members on its faculty who have been recognized the state over for their excellence in academics and teaching skills.
It aims to impart the best in skills of Medicine to our students both undergraduate and postgraduate, so as to equip them both to compete aginst the very best.
The large number and variety of cases available in this hospital provide an excellent base for clinical studies both for thesis works and publications, and our aim is to facilitate these studies on randoms aspects of Medicine utilizing the excellent research facilities that are being provided by the hospital.
A new thrust on our research activities could easily transform the Jubilee Mission Medical College into a recognized center for the output of the research papers and publications of standard, merit and value.
As large number of patients who opt for focused clinical care are not able to access this, specialized OP clinics in HIV, Geriatrics,etc.. will be set up under the Medicine Department to provide reasonable and competent care.
